Most important are the documents you need to travel - do you have your passport/visa/money/international student id card?

Check the weather at your destination - extreme temperatures; hot/cold/rainy? Pack your clothes accordingly. A down jacket is always a good idea for those winter weather destinations, and an umbrella is great for anywhere in the UK. Two weeks of underwear is usually sufficient, and then add in jeans/t-shirts/sweaters/dresses accordingly.

Laptop/smartphone/USB stick/mp3 player. But most importantly, check if you need an adapter to plug everything in!

Sheets/a good blanket/towels - always best to take these from home!
