The Business School of UK-based University of Southampton is offering several scholarships to international students for the full-time MBA program. These could be worth up to 35% of tuition fees. They will be decided from April 1 onwards, and may be awarded as stand-alone scholarships, or a combination of two or more.
The Global I Scholarship, worth about 25% of tuition, will be awarded to a student who has a first class honours degree and 4 years’ relevant work experience, or an upper second class honours degree and 6 years’ experience, or a lower second class honours degree and 8 years’ experience.
The Global II Scholarship (around 15%) will be awarded to a student who has a first class honours degree and 3 years relevant work experience, or an upper second class honours degree and 4 years’ experience, or a lower second class honours degree and 5 years’ experience
Global I and II are automatic scholarships, based purely on the candidate’s academic grade and level of work experience. They are awarded if candidates receive an offer of admission to the program.
In addition to the above scholarships, eight Regional Ambassador Scholarships are available to students from Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. These scholarships are worth 10% of the tuition fee, and may be awarded to exceptional applicants who demonstrate the requisite experience and potential to become future ambassadors of the MBA program in their home country and sector.
Lastly, six Global Business Excellence Scholarships will give students an opportunity for a further 10% discount on the tuition fees. Outstanding students from any country who demonstrate excellence in global business and working internationally across borders with organizational stakeholders are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
The last two types of scholarships are competitive, and will be awarded at the discretion of Southampton Business School by the MBA Director, based on the quality of applicants. Candidates can apply for both, but are eligible to receive only one.
For the University’s returning alumni, a further 10% alumni discount on the tuition fee is applicable. So they could get a total of up to 45% off, if they receive a Global I Scholarship (25% off), a Business Excellence or Regional Ambassador Scholarship (another 10% off), plus a 10% alumni discount.
Southampton Business School’s MBA program is of 12 months’ duration. Students must complete 10 core foundation modules aimed at developing managerial and leadership capabilities, as well as optional modules. Core modules cover topics such as Managing Business Effectively in the 21st Century, Quality & Operations Management, Contemporary Marketing, Accounting, Measuring Performance, and Corporate Finance. The program is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the global standard in MBAs.
In order to have the best chance of being selected for the scholarships, candidates should apply for the program as early as possible. All applicants shortlisted for the competitive scholarships will be interviewed.Queries can be directed to this email address.
