University of Southampton invites you to apply for an Msc in Business and Heritage management

The Archaeology Department at the University of Southampton is inviting applications for  the September 2019 intake of its MSc in Business and Heritage Management program. The Archaeology Department at the University of Southampton is ranked 48th in the world in the QS University Rankings 2019 and  3rdfor research power in the UK in 2014 by Research Excellence Framework.

The year-long Business and Heritage Management program will prepare students for a career in heritage management through a theoretical and practical understanding of preserving, assessing, and presenting heritage properties and sites. The curriculum covers economic and legal principles in heritage management across the globe, including working on museum displays, site management and an understanding of how heritage shapes national identities. As an internationally focused course, aspects such as environmental impact assessment and heritage presentation will also be incorporated in the teachings.

Students will develop skills to work both in the private and public sector through a mix of business development, and practical experience. Part of the course entails field trips to heritage sites, and interaction with professionals in the field. Projects will also help students hone their business skills with finance, market and project and risk management.

Graduates of the program will be able to find employment in a variety of positions in the field of heritage management, business, tourism and construction. The course will prepare them to work in government positions on heritage bodies, as private consultants, or managers of a range of sites, from National Trust properties to country estates.

The fee for the program is £18,750, and all applications must be submitted by 30th June 2019. Eligible candidates need to have Bachelors degree from a recognised university with a minimum qualification of 60%. Alternatively, candidates can present equivalent professional qualification approved by the University of Southampton. Candidates also need a minimum 6.5 overall score  in the IELTS exam, with a 6.0 in listening and speaking. Alternative equivalent qualifications must be university approved. Students with 70% in CBSE or CISCE Class XII English are exempt from additional language requirements.
