The Malala Yousafzai Scholarship

The University of King's College in Halifax, Canada, sets up a fully-funded scholarship for young women from developing countries.

Available to young women from developing countries who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to attend university, University of King's College in Halifax, Canada, has announced the Malala Yousafzai Canada Scholarship.

The scholarship will cover all tuition and residence feeds, travel to and from King's College, books, and incidentals. The scholarships are renewable throughout the full four years of an undergraduate degree, after which a new scholar will be selected. The annual value of the scholarship is $30,000 Canadian, with a $120,000 value over four years.

For the inagural year, King's College will offer two Malala Yousafzai Canada Scholarships in partnership with Canada's International Development Research Centre (IRDC).

"I was excited when King's College announced a scholarship for students who are in developing countries," said Malala Yousafzai in a video message directed to King's College. "[The] student who dreams for a better future, for a better world, would get the opportunity for a quality education. And that is what totally made me happy."
