This comes as part of an agreement signed between Sports Development and Education Australia (SEDA) and Centurion University of Technology and Management will give students from disadvantaged communities access to international standard vocational training in sports education and management.
“East India is fast emerging as a hub for sports with excellent facilities like astro-turf hockey stadia in Ranchi and cricket stadia in Raipur, Ranchi & Cuttack, as well as track & field stadia,” said co-founder and President of Centurion University, Professor Mukti Kant Mishra.
“This centre will help develop skills in the sports sector in India by integrating sports education with the curricula of existing schools and colleges, as well as identifying talented individuals who can go on and represent India at a global level,” he said.
SEDA will provide consulting services through the delivery of structured education and training in sports and sports services to Centurion University. The project will also deliver sport and recreation curriculum at the University and across India through schools, colleges and other institutions.
The project has been funded by a grant from the Australian Sports Commission to support vocational education and training in India.
