With the top-notch resources and wide-ranging programs of a large university and the sense of community and personal attention of a small college, Hofstra is a great place for students who are looking for a traditional campus experience without sacrificing the networking opportunities, internship experiences, and cultural offerings of a bustling metropolis.
Opportunities are available to conduct research with distinguished professors, intern with top-tier finance or media companies or in the state legislature or Congress, and to work in our cutting-edge facilities such as the Martin B. Greenberg Trading Room or WRHU-88.7 FM, Radio Hofstra University, which was named the top college radio station in the country by The Princeton Review (2015, 2016).
Our hard-working, ambitious students are taught by Guggenheim Fellows and Fulbright Scholars, Emmy Award recipients, prize-winning scientists, leaders in business, education, and the health sciences, and knowledgeable and insightful thinkers. Our 1,157 faculty members (of which 498 are full-time) are leading educators and experts dedicated to providing the foundation.
Internationally recognized
Hofstra is consistently ranked among the best colleges and universities, has been recognized with 25 academic and professional accreditations in disciplines, and is one of only three New York regional universities with colleges of law, medicine, and engineering.
Hofstra has been selected as host of three US presidential debates (2008, 2012, and 2016), and was also named to the 2012 President’s Higher Education and Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary commitment to service and civic engagement on and off campus.
Health programs—one meant just for you
As a Hofstra student, you can choose from over 140 undergraduate program options, approximately 160 graduate program options, and over 100 dual-degree programs.
Courses and programs are offered in athletic training, exercise science, occupational therapy, sports science, community health, health science, health administration, public health, counseling and mental health professions, and speech-language pathology and audiology.
An interdisciplinary environment where students learn to provide therapeutic and developmental services; prevent, diagnose, and treat illness and disabilities; and design, implement, administer, and evaluate health promotion programs, policies, and systems prepares students for careers in health care settings and to receive a solid foundation for graduate study in education and health-related professions.
The School of Education—which is fully accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council—places a high priority on the liberal arts education of undergraduate students and the preparation of reflective teachers and highly skilled practitioners.
