For a limited time, Education New Zealand (ENZ) is offering a NZ$10,000 scholarship, called the ‘One Million Cent’ scholarship, to a current or prospective international student.
ENZ is offering this scholarship as a way to celebrate reaching one million social media followers across its various platforms, including the Study in New Zealand Facebook page, Twitter, Weibo, WeChat, Instagram and Snapchat.
John Laxon, Education New Zealand’s Regional Director of South, South East Asia and the Middle East, noted that more than 130,000 students choose to study in New Zealand every year from more than 180 countries worldwide.
“International students are a vital part of our online student communities, and social media platforms play a key role in helping ENZ engage with potential students,” he said. “Creativity and innovation are at the heart of New Zealand’s education system and we excel at programmes that combine creativity and technology.”
Mr Laxon added that this scholarship was designed with that focus in mind, and that it was ENZ’s way of thanking its dedicated social media followers, of which Indian students formed the largest cohort.
He said: “Indian students form the second largest contingent of international students in New Zealand. Whilst business, IT and engineering dominate the study interest, over the years we’ve seen an increased appetite for specialist programmes like animation, fashion, aviation, sports technology, cyber security, energy and conservation from India. The ‘One Million Cent’ scholarship comes in addition to ENZ’s annual New Zealand Excellence Awards for Indian students. Through efforts like these, we hope to creatively engage with prospective students from India.”

Current and prospective Indian students are welcome to apply for the scholarship. Applications for the scholarship are open until 20 July 2017, and the winner will be announced on 1 August 2017.
In order to apply, you should be a resident of a country other than New Zealand, and should take up (or continue) a course at a New Zealand educational institute. The scholarship will cover tuition costs and course-related costs up to NZ$ 10,000. For more information, please visit the Study in New Zealand Facebook page.
