The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee has opened applications for its award winning Product Design Programme (Hons). This four year programme will begin in September 2019, and is housed in Scotland’s # 1 college for Art & Design. Times Good University Guide has also ranked the university in the U.K’s top 30 of 2019.
The program is a playful exploration of existing and emerging technology, focusing specifically on the role it plays in people’s everyday lives. Interdisciplinary modules combine design and technology in a way that allows students to work with physical objects as well as digital interactions throughout their course.
Students work with creative professors and stakeholders in various industries, gaining expertise in electronics, computer aided design, laser cutting and 3-D printing. A large part of the course also involves participating in national and international competition. Third year students have an opportunity to study for a semester in partner universities in New Zealand, Germany and Canada.
The flexibility of the program ensures that graduates have a variety of career options. Alumni have worked as designers in several industries, for companies such as Nokia, Lego and Unilever.
In order to be eligible to apply, Indian students need a 60% in their CBSE, ISC or equivalent leading state board XII exams. Applicants also need to include a portfolio of relevant art, design and creative work. In addition, international students need a minimum IELTS score of 6, with 5.5 in listening reading and speaking at a minimum, and a 6 in writing.
