If you’re a high-school student looking to make great use of your summer, Arizona State University, ranked #1 in the U.S. for innovation by the U.S. News and World Report, has something exciting planned for you.
In partnership with BrainGain Global, Arizona State University (ASU), has launched the Master Learners Academy for international high school students aged 14-18 years. Applications are currently open for this two-week long Robotics, Technology and Invention Summer Program which will run from July 6 – July 20, 2019. The program will be hosted on ASU’s Tempe campus near Phoenix, Arizona.
Here’s what will be in store for you during the two-week pre-college summer program. The first week of the Robotics, Technology, and Invention Summer Program will focus on robotics. Participants will gain a range of technical skillsets like component-based robot construction, robotics programming, web programming and phone app programming – it will be great exposure to the latest engineering design concepts, artificial intelligence and computing technologies. At the end of the first week, you will have the chance to showcase whatever you have learned during the robotics challenge.
There will be a lot happening in the second week as well! The Art of Invention, in the second week, will introduce participants to the engineering design processes while they learn and use basic science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) concepts like simple machines, electric circuits, programming, rapid prototyping, and storytelling. This project-based approach will help participants to gain experience in problem identification, brainstorming, problem solving, teamwork and communication. To download the brochure, click here.
Of course, it will not just be all work and no play! ASU’s Master Learners Academy’s summer program will also include workshops on interpersonal and leadership skills, the typical campus and American culture experiences including the ASU campus tour, extra-curricular activities, Arizona Diamondbacks game (MLB game), access to Sun Devils Fitness Complex (full basketball gym, indoor soccer field, two full-sized pools) and field trip excursions like a visit to Great Canyon which is one of the seven wonders of the world, trips to shopping centers, ice-cream and pizza social, laser tag, bowling and video games arcade night.
These are two weeks of intensive learning and fun. But the benefits don’t just end there. Apart from getting the study abroad experience, participants who successfully complete the program will also become eligible for a USD $2000 scholarship if they apply to ASU for an undergraduate course. Sounds amazing, right?
