The residential campus saw the entrance of the Class of 2017, the first class who will graduate with Yale-NUS degrees – awarded by NUS, the National University of Singapore. Students are currently being housed in NUS accommodation while construction of the official College residences continues.
Singapore’s first liberal arts experience - the program roughly involves studying a Common Curriculum for two years – ensuring that students are able to achieve a fully rounded educational perspective; after this, students will choose a major which will be completed in the final two years of the degree course. The college says it aims to boost studies of liberal arts and science subjects, but also provide a diverse study experience of east-west views for its highly competitive student body.
Banco Santander has recently gifted US$800,000 to establish two scholarship programmes – the Santander Scholarship – which will support up to five full merit based scholarships for applicants from anywhere in the world; and the Santander International Experience Scholarship at the College. This scholarship will support international exchanges and overseas internships and professional experiences for up to 100 students over the next five years.
