Currently the Advisor of National Knowledge Commission, Government of India, Dr. Ms. Kiran Datar has to her credit over 45 years of experience in the field of education. Having started her career as a lecturer and reader in History, Dr. Kiran has held various posts such as Dean of Colleges, Officiating Vice Chancellor and Advisor at the University of Delhi. She completed her Ph.D. in History from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi with International relations and American History as fields of specialization. She has to her credit many awards and distinctions. Some of them being- the Fulbright Fellowship 1966-68, Dorothy Lee Grant in1977; Mahila Shiromani Award in 1994 (Excellence in chosen field of activity - Education), awarded by Smt. Vimala Sharma, the First Lady of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan ; Himotkarsh National Integration Award, 2005-2006 for Excellence in the Field of Education. She has also been appointed by the Chief Minister, National Capital Territory of Delhi as a member of the five member Advisory Committee to set up the Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University in the NCT. Some of the books published by her are 'Malaysia: Quest for a Politics of Consensus', Vikas Publishing House, 1993 and 'United States of America: Two Centuries of Growth and Change', Directorate of Hindi Implementation Board, University of Delhi, 1997. |
